2018 property taxes paid in '17 - got state prop tax credit in '18. Can't enter neg # in TT Fed return. How do I resolve?

A credit from a state is not an item that is entered on the federal return.

TT specifically indicates that if I received a state prop tax credit that I have to subtract that from the property taxes reported on my federal form. Since I paid no property taxes in 2018 (paid the prior year), I'd end up with a negative # - which TT won't allow me to enter...

I see it in the instructions. You should enter a zero.
