2013 I had 2 home offices on my taxes because I moved. I had 2 8829 forms that both have line 43, carryover of Unallowed Expenses. Can I add both carryovers this year?

Since there was one office from january through october and the second office from november to december, I had two 8829 forms filed with my taxes, one for each office. this year I only had one home office throughout the year because I did not move, therefore will only have one 8829 form. am I able to add the carryover from both 8829 forms to this years 8829 form? Same business for both offices, the only reason there was 2 offices was because I moved during the year, and these are home offices.

Yes, if you are using the actual expense method (not Simplified Method) for claiming your home office expense for 2024, then you can carryforward the unallowed expense from both home offices used in 2023.

As you go through the Home Office expense section of TurboTax, there will be an entry toward the end of the process after you have entered your 2024 home office expenses that asks if you had any expenses not deducted in a prior year.  If you used TurboTax for your return for 2023, that amount may already be filled in for you.  If it is not, take a look at your 2023 Form 8829 line 43 (and line 44, if applicable) and enter the total from both 2023 home offices used for your business.

Thank you! It did have it filled in at the end of that portion of doing this years taxes, but it only had one of the amounts, not both. I appreciate your help 🙂
