1098 bug looping 2023

2023 Turbotax online software thinks I have a mortgage but I don't. I paid off the mortgage 4+ years ago. I have never entered 1098 info, so I don't know why it's asking and I can't make the question go away! I don't have a mortgage lender but it won't let me bypass the darn question. I'm ready to file right now but it seems this bug is preventing me from doing so. There doesn't seem to be an option to trash, delete or indicate "No Mortgage".

Also, the software keeps asking when I sold my vehicle. I did not sell it. Again, it won't let me proceed.

Thank you in advance for any help!

You could check the list of forms and worksheets that TurboTax has created from your entries, and delete any which are not needed. This may resolve the issue of irrelevant questions.

To delete a form, in TurboTax Online:

  1. Open or continue your return in TurboTax.
  2. In the left menu, select "Tax Tools" and then "Tools".
  3. In the pop-up window Tool Center, select "Delete a form".
  4. Select "Delete" next to "(name of form) " and follow the instructions.

Review the questionnaire for Schedule C or other form that may include a reference to a vehicle, and check your answers.
