1040 Blank line 35a

I'm trying to track my refund status. My roommate and I filed at the same time literally in the same room and she got her tax return on Friday while I'm still waiting for mine.

So, I end up logging into my account to see where I can track it, and then it asks me to provide my SSN, tax year, filing status, and refund amount.

I was able to provide everything EXCEPT the refund amount because on my 1040, line 35a is left blank.

Lines 34-36 are empty.

What does this mean?

I don't understand, and if it means I am not getting anything back, then I'd like to speak to a representative because I paid MORE than my roommate had to filing taxes for 2022 and I make LESS than she does. Make it make sense!

You cannot directly compare the tax situation of two different people.

If lines 34 to 36 are blank, this means that you are not getting a refund.

Please check line 37. If there is an amount there, then it is your tax due which has to be paid by April 18, 2023.
