Why is TurboTax charging for a TN tax return this year? In the past, it found that I don't need to file in TN, from info my federal tax return.I have to file in 2 states.

Since I downloaded the TN state return for free, I had to pay for the 2nd state where I need to file. Can I get a refund of the fee for the state return, since I only need one, not two?

No one in the user forum can resolve a billing issue.  If you have a question about your TurboTax fees or billing, make sure you use the word “billing” in your request for help.  Do not use the word “refund.”

This is not a billing issue.  It's a TurboTax software design issue.  In the past, prior to starting a TN state return, the software would ask a qualifying question regarding the filer's income, and determine the need to file the return or not.  This year, TurboTax prompts the filer to download and pay for the state return, and then determine the return was unnecessary. This is a change that only benefits Intuit.
