UPDATED FOR TAX YEAR 2019

CT allows an exemption of 25% of the CT Teacher Retirement pay.

If you are going through the interview for your CT state tax return for the first time, you should see a screen, Any Taxable Teachers Retirement Pay?

Enter the amount of the CT Teachers Retirement in the box and TurboTax will calculate the credit for you.

If you have completed the CT interview, when you go back into the return, you will see the screen Your 2019 taxes are ready for us to check.

  1. Click the Edit box next to Income.
  2. On the screen, Here's the income that Connecticut handles differently, in the Retirement section, click the Start/Update box next to Teacher's Retirement Pay.
  3. Enter the amount of the CT Teachers Retirement in the box and TurboTax will calculate the credit for you.

The deduction should show on line 45 of Schedule 1 of the CT-1040.

Are you using the online or CD/Download version of TurboTax?
