Why does my return state I'm claiming a Solar and Wind Energy Credit Carryover? I have checked the NY return many times and I have not claimed anything

It says I am ineligible to file my NY return online due to this Solar and Wind Energy Credit. I have never owned anything relating to solar and wind and I left that section blank. Why is it saying I have carryover? What did I fill out wrong?

You may have an incomplete, or carried over form, in your return.

If you are using TurboTax Online:

  1. From inside the return, scroll down to Tax Tools on the bottom of the left side menu.
  2. Select Tools.
  3. Click on Delete a form (third on the list at the bottom of the screen).
  4. Find Form 5695 on the list of forms.
  5. Click Delete to the right.
  6. Confirm your Delete.
  7. Scroll down to the NY return and find IT-255.
  8. Click Delete to the right.
  9. Confirm your Delete.
  10. Click Continue in the lower right.
  11. Click Continue with my return.

If you are the Desktop version (disc or download):

  1. Click Forms toward the upper right corner.
  2. Find Form 5695 on the list on the left.
  3. Highlight it, then click Delete in the lower left corner of the reading pane.
  4. Scroll down to your NY return and find Form IT-255 on the list on the left.
  5. Highlight it, then click Delete in the lower left corner of the reading pane.
  6. Click on Step by Step in the upper right corner to return to the interview.

You should be able to e-file once those forms are cleared out.

There is no Form 5695 on my list

There is no form Form IT-255 on my list either. The entry on my Federal worksheet has a line for form IT-255 and the entry is blank as in $0

I filed my federal return with 1040-SR. I filed my NY state with IT-201

Not being able to file my state return is very annoying. In fact so annoying I may need to evaluate my forty or so year history with turbo tax.
