Why do i owe state taxes this year nothing has changed from last year? Does working in Massachusetts and live in Connecticut cause this?

Why would I need to fill out a non resident form?

If you work in MA and live in CT, you have to file a tax return in each state.  You must file a non-resident MA return in addition to your home state CT return.

CT can tax ALL your income.  MA can tax the income you earned by working in MA.  You'll be able to take a credit on your CT return for the taxes paid to MA, so you won't be double-taxed.

>>Note that you should complete your non-resident state return BEFORE you do your home state return, in order for the credit to flow properly.
