Why do I need to consent to release my personal information to Intuit and its subsidiaries, when I'm already typing in my personal info to complete my tax return?

"Consent to disclosure of your tax return information"
What is the purpose of having to do this?

The consent to release personal information covers additional services that involve third-parties. For example, a bank gets involved if you want to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your refund or if you want your refund deposited into a Turbo card.

Our Turbo service which helps your tackle debt, save smarter, and realize your goals also would require consent.

Consent would also allow TurboTax to send you marketing offers.

When I signed the consent form it checked the box "Filing Jointly" which is incorrect.

I'm not "Filing Jointly". The consent form checked that box!
