Why am I getting a Form K-40SVR error when reviewing my Kansas state taxes?

I do not own my home so I do not qualify, but TurboTax keeps wanting me to put in property values.

There’s currently an issue where TurboTax is showing an error related to Form K-40SVR (Appraised Property Value). TurboTax is requiring unqualified taxpayers to complete the K-40SVR.

Our team is working on a fix. As a workaround, you should enter a zero for the appraised value when you see the error.

This will not impact the accuracy of the customer's return. No credit is being calculated and the form is not part of the return.

Hello. I'm a non-resident of Kansas but have income only in Kansas. I keep getting this K-40SVR error even though I don't even have that form in my Kansas Tax forms. I already paid for the E-File for Kansas and just want to get this done. Why am I getting this error? can someone please help me with this? Thank you

This is currently a known issue with Turbo Tax. There is a workaround to this error that may help you move on from this.  If you see the error and if the program asks for an appraised value, enter a 0 for the appraised value.

This will not impact your return and will help you move on and complete your return. Let us know if this works.

There is no form that says anything about appraised value. I don't even have this form on my Kansas state tax forms. I'm a non-resident of Kansas.

To clarify, when the error appears in your return in the review stage, does it prompt you to add a value for appraised value?

No. Not at all.

Also I'm not getting an error on my review. It'll let me e-file it and then I get an email saying this error.

So, to clarify, your return is being rejected by Kansas for this error?  Or TurboTax is not submitting your return for this error?

TurboTax runs its review and says there are no errors. It will let me e-file my Kansas and then I get an email saying it got rejected because of this code. I go back into TurboTax and it says there needs to be an update with TurboTax for this form. But it keeps telling me the next day is when the update is ready. I go in the next day I e-file it again and it gets rejected again saying that the form is not ready.

This is a known issue and a fix is in the next update to TurboTax. Please try to file your state return again tomorrow February 11.

I entered 0 and still can't file my Taxes.  When filing it says there is an error and takes back to form K-40SVR.

I am having the same issue - It also give me an error when I try to enter 0 in the amount of property tax paid.  I have tried deleting the form and it returns each time it does a review.

Do you have property tax listed in the federal section under deductions? If yes, the program is pulling it into the state for you.  SVR is for seniors and disabled veterans. In the program, click that you are not eligible and the program will remove the form. If you are eligible for one of the property relief programs from the state, the software will determine which ones is correct for you.

Thanks for the information.  On the federal form there is a "0" in the property tax line.  Sold the property in 2021 so the 2021 column has property tax and the 2022 has a "0" in it.  Tried to leave it blank but the program auto fills it with "0".  That might be the problem with the software.  There is an entry on the federal form of "0".   Maybe that information will help Turbo tax fix the bug.
