which state and driver's license?

i used to live in NC, partially worked there then moved to WA. but ever since i moved to WA, i was unemployed. and since WA does not file state taxes, the situation is a little bit easy: just file taxes to NC.

however, i still wasn't sure if i wanted to keep living in WA, so i didnt bother to change my driver's license. and apparently, those who moved to WA need to replace their license within 30 days after their move ,which i have not done so.

now im at the last step of the filing taxes and they require driver's license/ state issued ID for verification. but since my address is WA address while my driver's license is NC, would that cause any trouble for me when i do put in my license info to file taxes?

You are not required to enter a driver's license in order to e-file your federal tax return.  It adds some security but you can skip that if you want to and you can still e-file federal.  There are some states that are picky about a drivers license or state ID, so some users end up having to mail their state if they cannot overcome an issue with the ID.

As for whether you are in compliance with the vehicle laws of the state you live in....that is in the category of your problem if you get in an accident or get pulled over.
