Where to send state/federal tax return in GA

In short I have a 1040, 500-500EZ, & 8879 form for 2021 GA taxes that are unable to be e-filed so im to mail the paper forms...

  • Do I send a copy of all 3 forms to both state and federal  together or individually?
  • Do you send the state a copy of the 3, then the same sending a copy of each form to federal as well or just send one single copy of each form in the same envelope ?
  • Which address am I supposed to mail them to both federal and state, there are multiple.

***Referring to the question prior, am I to send the different forms to different addresses?

When you printed your Forms there should have been a coversheet on top, that told you the addresses for reference.

For Georgia there are two addresses, one if you are getting a refund and one if you paying tax.

You would send your 500-500EZ and your 8879. You would only need to include your 1040 to Georgia if you have excluded combat pay or are filing a 1040NR.

500 and 500 EZ
(refunds and no balance due)

Georgia Dept. of Revenue
PO Box 740380
Atlanta, GA 30374-0380

500 and 500 EZ
(payments)

Georgia Dept. of Revenue
PO Box 740399
Atlanta, GA 30374-0399

Here are Georgia's instructions for submitting a return:

Completing your Return

  • If handwritten, use black or blue ink only.
  • Do not staple or attach your check, W-2s or any other documents to your return.
  • Submit proper documentation (schedules, statements and supporting documentation, including W-2s, other states’ tax returns, or necessary federal returns and schedules).
  • Use the correct form - forms differ by tax type and tax year.  Look at the bottom of the form for the required pages to submit.
  • Double-check your return.
    • Review personal information (social security number (SSN), address, date of birth) on your return for each person listed
    • Check your math! Review the calculations on your return
  • Sign your return.
    • Taxpayers must sign and date their returns
    • Both spouses must sign the joint return, even if there was only one income reported
    • The return preparer should also sign the return
  • Mail your return, payment, and all necessary documentation to the appropriate address listed on the return.

Payments and Vouchers

  • Make your checks or money order payable to the Georgia Department of Revenue.
  • Fill out your check or money order correctly. Verify that the written and numerical amounts match, include taxpayer name(s), address, account #/SSN, and tax year.
  • Cut the payment voucher along the dotted lines.
  • Please do not staple your payment to the voucher or fold your voucher and check.
  • Remove your check stub and keep it with your records.
  • Use current year payment vouchers to file for the current tax year.

For your Federal Tax Return you would send your Form 1040 and Form 8879 to:

Assemble Your Return Form 1040:

Assemble any schedules and forms behind Form 1040 or 1040-SR in order of the “Attachment Sequence No.” shown in the upper-right corner of the schedule or form. If you have supporting statements, arrange them in the same order as the schedules or forms they support and attach them last. File your return, schedules, and other attachments on standard size paper.

Cutting the paper may cause problems in processing your return.

Don’t attach correspondence or other items unless required to do so.

Attach Forms W-2 and 2439 to Form 1040 or 1040-SR. If you received a Form W-2c (a corrected Form W-2), attach your original Forms W-2 and any Forms W-2c. Attach Forms W-2G and 1099-R to Form 1040 or 1040-SR if tax was withheld.
