Where do I add my California VLF Paid amount this year? I don't see it on the CA State form this year.

The VLF is the portion of your registration fee that is tax deductible. Your car registration fee is deductible if it’s a yearly fee based on the value of your vehicle and you itemize your deductions.

To deduct your Vehicle License Fee (VLF), enter the amount on your federal return, your information will flow to your state return.

  1. Open your return.
  2. Go to Federal
  3. Go to Deductions and Credits
  4. Scroll down to Car Registration Fees
