I am a Pennsylvania resident who had New Jersey taxes withheld by my employer. Because I work remotely from Pennsylvania, I am required to file a nonresident return for New Jersey, have my state income tax returned as a refund, and pay my Pennsylvania income taxes (this issue has been corrected moving forward).
New Jersey requires that nonresident income tax returns that receive a full refund be filed via mail, so TurboTax suggests printing the form. When I attempt to do so, I receive the following error: "It looks like your returns aren't available to print or download yet. This is because the IRS hasn't finalized some of the forms for your federal return, and New Jersey hasn't finalized some of the forms for your state return."
I have already filed my federal taxes and had them accepted and, as far as I can tell, there are no additional forms needed for my New Jersey return. I am able to download the nonresident form from New Jersey's state website and complete them manually and can't figure out what form might be missing or waiting to be updated.
Does anyone have any sense of what the issue might be here and what the timeline would be for availability?
The New Jersey Form NJ-1040NR Income Tax - Nonresident Return for tax year 2023 will be available to print and mail on 01/31/2024. The form is now available to e-file.
