What should I do if I am being served a demand of payment from a state I was not liveing in or working in at the time?

Recently I received a notice of demand of payment from the irs for back taxes from 2011 from Oregon when at the time I did not reside or work in oregon that year tell I moved there in 2013.

I recommend that you call Oregon Department of Revenue and explain your situation.  If there's an error, they'll correct it. 

They see some type of Oregon-source income and want the tax for it.  If the letter doesn't give you any details as to what the taxes are for, the agent will have more information.

They see some type of Oregon-source income and want the tax for it.  If the letter doesn't give you any details as to what the taxes are for, the agent will have more information.
