On the screen that asks for his driver's license or state ID, if there is an option under Type of ID that says "Do not have either a license or state ID," select that option. Otherwise, make no entries on that screen. Just click Continue. Ignore the message on the next screen that says "Need to enter your driver's license or state ID." Just continue with the filing process.
If you have further questions about this, please tell us what state your son is filing in.
Problem STILL exists. Cannot paper file state return without a state-issued ID.

Thanks for the quick answer; unfortunately it will not let me continue (7x's hit continue from the missing information.)
my daughter just filed wo her id number and it went threw
Just tried my gandson's again, same thing. Won't let me proceed beyond the DL or ID screen.
.I entered "no ID available" instead of "decline to provide information" for my child's ID. We filed the state taxes manually. Does this make a difference for Federal Taxes?
Sigh. I hate TurboTax. Not only did I type a detailed response here, but in the process of forcing me to login in order to post it, it deleted my comment. The problem of being unable to paper file a state return without a state-issued ID STILL exists. Trying to paper file my son's state return and I am hung on the screen where I check the box stating he doesn't have a state-issued ID. I've tried everything to get around this screen, but to no avail. I keep checking the box to file by mail and I can't get to the part to print a mailable return.
