What does income earned while not a resident of pennsylvaina mean?

The "income earned while you were not a resident of Pennsylvania", input screen is where you would enter nonresident income. This input screen would apply to you if you earned income in the state of Pennsylvania, while you lived in another state. 

Is it asking for gross income?
