I am a non-Detroit resident and I am full time remote.
My company withheld Detroit taxes.
I have filed a 2022 City of Detroit Nonresident Income Tax Return and entered "0" for days worked in Detroit.
I am required to mail this portion of my return - what all do I need to include when mailing besides pages 1-3 of the return?
W2, etc? anything else needed?
If mailing your non-resident Detroit City return, attach a copy of your W-2 showing Detroit wages and withholding.
You should prepare a wage log documenting days worked outside Detroit and obtain a letter from your employer, but you do not have to send those with your return.
Detroit says:
The employee should keep a work log of the days worked outside the city. Employers should provide employees with a letter, on company letterhead, stating the dates that employees were directed to work from home. The employees are not required to submit the work log and employer letter with a city income tax return, but taxpayers should still retain the documents and may be required to furnish the documents upon request by a city tax administrator.
