Answer yes, you lived in another state. You only want to pay Missouri for the time you were there, not the whole year.

You need to file a part year resident return for MO. FL has no state return to fill out.

I got a similar situation. May i ask if he said "yes" for the question of if he lived in another state, What's the date of residency for Missouri should be? January 1st or November 2?

I moved to Florida on January 26, but I moved back to Missouri on November 2, and Florida is where I started working for Walmart.

In this example, you started the year in Missouri.  Your Florida residency would begin on January 26.  Missouri residency would begin November 2.

Florida residency was the period of January 26 through November 1.  Florida has no state income tax return.

You would file a part year Missouri tax return for the periods January 1 through January 26 and November 2 through  December 31.

If you were an employee of Wal-Mart in both Florida and Missouri, I would expect to see Missouri taxes withheld but no Florida tax withheld on your W-2.

Thanks for your information. I inputted January 1 as the date i became a resident of Missouri on my personal information, but when i process federal review, the following warning is apppeared.

"The date became a resident should be after January 1 for a part year resident. If you were a resident the entire year, uncheck the part-year resident box"

Could you please tell me what i can do for this?

Under the My info section, make sure you have the State of residence (on December 31, 2020) as being your resident state at the end of the year.

Put Missouri as your previous state of residency and the date you became as resident of Florida below that.  See the sample input below.

I lived in Missouri at beggining of 2020. I moved from Missouri to Kansas around August 2020, then I moved back to Missouri at the end of December. What i should input based on this information?

Additionally, i only earned income from Missouri when i live in Kansas.

Did you intend to return to Missouri when you moved to Kansas?

If so, Missouri will be your full-year resident return.  You would list Missouri as your resident state on 12/31/20.

State residency information

If you did not make any money in Kansas, you would not have a filing requirement there unless you met the filing threshold requirement.  If you did, you would file your tax return there as a nonresident instead of a part-year resident.

Please see the attached link to determine if have a filing requirement in Kansas.
