Hello
I have been using TurboTax Premier for approx. 8 years and starting with the 2020 return, the employer name entered on the Federal return does not appear on the Compensation Summary screen in the PA State return. I do however see the Employer names in the Forms view. Is this a bug?
Reason I'm asking is I have always filed electronically and last year the PA Dept. of Revenue sent me a letter with a penalty stating they either did not receive 2 of the 3 W-2s submitted or the w-2's were illegible. I see on my 2021 return the Employer name did not transfer same as 2020 and I'm wondering if this is a bug.
I sent all documentation to the State and should be cleared but it takes a long time. This year I will print and mail the return.
I did purchase Audit Defense and wondering if Audit Defense can step in as well.
Although the Compensation Summary page in the Pennsylvania State interview shows a number instead of the employer name, the correct information appears on PA-40 Gross Compensation Worksheet. This worksheet is not part of your official State return; it is for your records only. The forms filed with the State of Pennsylvania by TurboTax, including PA-40, do not report specific employer information, only the wages, taxes, and other deductions as shown on your W-2.
If the State had issues with Forms W-2 in the past, you might check with your employer to see if the forms were delayed, or if the employer received notice that the forms were missing or illegible. The responsibility for filing correct W-2s rests with the employer.
