Unable to file New York state tax

I am at the final step of the tax e-filing process in TurboTax Premier. Currently on the "File" tab. It gives me a message that reads:

"Pension/Annuities/IRA Worksheet: Txble Pens/IRA(Reg Dist) We still working on updates related to Retirement Distributions that qualify for disaster or covid relief. You can keep working on your return and we'll remove this message when its ready."

Then, below that is a entry field, showing my taxable amount, but its greyed out and i can't do anything with it.

To clarify - i made a qualifying CARES act withdrawal in 2020, and it looks like this error is related to it.

Is that something that TurboTax working on, or do i need to do something on my end to be able to file my state taxes?

In addition, while I'm unable to file my state taxes, can i file my federal refund? If so, then how?

Thank You

I am having this exact same issue. TurboTax needs to get this resolved ASAP.

@FellerGuy @EgorFed @TheMugzzy  I am have the same exact issue!!! Has been ongoing since last Thursday!  I called and spoke with TT on Friday and was put into a queue for this issue as there are several other states having this issue as well.  They gave me no clarification or timeline on this.  The impression I got is they have no idea what is causing the issue.

So annoying, I cannot file my taxes until they fix this. Ive already paid TT so can't use another vendor at this time.

I am getting the same message as well.  I worked with a Tech, did the standard "tools -> remove forms" and the worksheet was not even listed to remove on the back end.  I was able to e-file my Federal return, but need to hold on NYS until Turbotax fixes the issue.   I have a call scheduled with them on 3/8, fingers crossed they resolve this issue before then.  For now I keep logging on and going through the steps to see if they fixed it yet.

As an FYI you ARE able to file federal electronically without NYS, you don't need to do both together.

The same issue is being tracked on this thread:

https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/state-taxes/discussion/am-i-doing-this-wrong-or-is-turbotax-and-or-ny-state-just-behind-i-am-stuck-at-fix-new-york-return/01/1988418#M87740

There is a message from a specialist that says:

"Once updates have been finalized, they will automatically update within Turbo Tax. We do not have a date of the release just yet. Be sure to check back on a daily basis for  the update! Thank you for being patient with the process."

How did you manage to file your Federal return?  I can't seem to get beyond the "Let's make sure everything is accurate" screen.  I only have the options to File by mail, Fix New York return or back.

Do I have to clear out my state return somehow and start over after the Federal return is e-filed?

I'm in NY and also ran into this issue, spent several hours on several calls with the live experts to no avail. End result was: wait and see. Anybody have any new info? I also replied on the other thread to see if TT had any updates ...

@jenNY2021Did you figure this out?

I was able to do it in the online version by clicking 'File' in the menu on the left.

You'll see a screen that says you need to fix your state return, but it gives you the option to mail the return instead. Click on "mail instead" to bypass the screen. It won't block you from e-filing the state return later; it just gets you past that screen so you can file your Federal return.

Once you're past that screen, you'll just see the usual path to e-file your federal return. After it's filed, you'll notice on the Home screen that the federal return is filed, and the state section will have a button that says "continue state return."

If you click to continue the state return, you'll end up at the 'fix return' and the worksheet that is currently unable to be fixed ... So then it's just the wait-and-see situation for the state return that everyone else is in, but at least your federal return will be done.

HTH.

Still unable to file NYS. Still waiting for a software update.

TT now has an official post on this issue:

https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/state-tax-forms/help/why-am-i-getting-a-check-[product key removed]ge-blocking-me-from-filing-my-state-return/00/2033806

If you withdrew from retirement because of COVID-19 and have Form 8915-E on your federal return, you may have gotten a “Check this Entry” message stopping you from filing your state return.

We’re working hard to incorporate this new form into all the states in TurboTax. To ensure that your return is accurate, check back after March 19 to file your return. We should have it ready by then!
