TurboTax won't let me e-file my NY State Tax

I get this message:

"Returns with state and/or local withholding from sources other than Federal Form W-2, W-2G, 1099-G and l099-R. These rules are set by the NY State Dept. of Taxation and Finance.

Good news is you can still print your NY return and file it by mail."

NY does NOT accept filing by mail What can I do? I have been using TT for about 20 years and have never had this issue.

Bullet 4 under

Important notes about the mandate

Reads:

'If you can't electronically file the return because it's not supported by your approved e-file software or it can't be filed on our website, then you aren't required to e-file it.'

Thanks ... but as Turbo Tax is one of the approved software packages, that won't work.

I solved the problem. I uninstalled TurboTax, and did a whole new return. Whatever was messing me up in the original file seemed to go away and I was able to file my NY State return. It was a huge pain in the you know what, but I got it done and filed.

Thanks again.

I have the same error in 2022...

Returns with state and/or local withholding from sources other than Federal Form W-2, W-2G, 1099-G and 1099-R.

NYS requires e-filing. I have no way to determine what this error is... I do not want to delete and re-enter my entire return and I cannot find any such exclusions on NYS Tax site that might cause this.. I have a fairly simple return. Why is this suddenly happening this year?

@jtaxnan

What tax document,

 other than Federal Form W-2, W-2G, 1099-G and 1099-R

did you enter that shows NY state withholding?

There was nothing wrong with my filing. I had to delete the statements that I imported from my financial institutions and enter them manually which seems to have worked. Something in TT didn't like my documents. Unfortunate that it was not identified by the software but for now it allowed me to file NYS. We'll see if it is accepted.
