TurboTax makes me say I took PFML when I didn't

I think there's a minor bug with the Desktop version.

I received unemployment, and therefore a 1099-G, from Massachusetts.

However, I did NOT receive Paid Family Taxable Distributions.
Turbotax asks "Did you receive any From 1099-G issued for PFML Benefits?" I selected "No".

However, during the review, it flags that I didn't enter an amount. When I enter '0' and go back to the TurboTax question about Form 1099-G for PFML, it has changed my answer to "Yes", though the amount is 0. I think this is okay, but wanted to verify.

Because you are in Massachusetts (which follow the tax treatment of the PFL so it is fully taxable), the answer will not make a difference. (Unlike a state like California or New Jersey where it is taxable for federal taxes but then gets subtracted out which is why TurboTax asks).

I still believe there is a bug with the MA State tax form.  I erroneously entered my unemployment number on the PFML page asking for a value on the 1099-G, and even though i corrected it and said NO i did not have PFML payments, each time it checks MA submissions it flags that there are no days entered for the value i erroneously entered previously (unemployment that's already calculated in another area).  It won't remove the extra entry of the number.  Consequently, it's double counting my unemployment number I believe.

You need to delete the PFML form.

To Delete a form:

  1. Select Tax Tools from the menu on the left
  2. Then select Tools
  3. When the new menu pops up select Delete a Form
  4. You will see a list of all the forms in your return
  5. Find the form that you want to delete
  6. Select the Form
  7. Click Delete on the right

Tax forms are interconnected.  While you are on this screen don’t start deleting forms you don’t recognize.

Thanks for the attempt to help; however removing the form did not work.  The prompts you offered didn't exist in my version of 2021 MA Turbo Tax Deluxe but i did find a way to view and then delete Schedule X form where the value was erroneously listed under PFML.  I did that, saved, went through all state entries again, chose NO for PFML, and after completing, ran review of State and it flagged same error stopping on an empty field for Row B "Amount that is PFML" just below where it inserted my unemployment total for PFML in row A.  And after completing this section originally it doubled my $due to a number that cannot possibly be correct so I need to resolve before filing.  What do i need to do to resolve?  Who should I contact at Turbotax and how?  Thx

I'm using TurboTax software on a disc, so no browser/cache is involved, so this isn't the answer to my issue unfortunately.

The issue appears to be a bug with the integration of Unemployment info from Federal into MA State Turbo tax forms by the software.  I removed and reentered the entire MA filing and still have an error on review.  THe unemployment info is imported as PFML , and then asks what amount was PFML money (and says do not put unemployment $s there) but it wont accept 0 as a valid value.  If i enter 1 it deducts out to what it thinks Unemployment is for me but then has an error on my spouse side which had no unemployment. It's a bug because of the shared field on Federal (with Unemployment and PFML ) that's not handled correctly by your software for Massachusetts.  Please have someone review and address asap.
