Turbotax error on Iowa 6251

The program is recording incorrectly on the Iowa 6251 when I file separately on the combined return. The program is recording the full amount of the tax preference items rather than splitting the amounts between spouse and taxpayer. I have contacted the state to make sure of my position and they agree they must be split. How do we get that corrected?

I want to report that I contacted TurboTax Support as directed and Jennifer did a great job in getting it resolved. Of course, I had made an error in going through the steps. I have made a suggested improvement to the system to hopefully assist others in coming to the resolution of this problem.

@JohnR66  I will let the Moderators know & they can tell Jennifer what a great job she did.  Thanks for letting us know.

Any recollection as to how you were able to split the tax on the IA 6251? After paying a small amount of AMT on my 2020 return and being a little surprised by that, I pinpointed the issue being the same as yours. Given the calendar, I believe I will just wait to file 2021 taxes for which if I get this input correctly, should be entitled to an AMT credit for the amount I overpaid in 2020. Just want to make sure I understand how to get input correctly next year as I don’t recall missing anything. Any help is appreciated! Thanks! @JohnR66

Sorry, I don’t remember what my error was. I also apologize for not being a lot more specific in my gratitude message for Jennifer’s help. That would have left much better tracks for others, including you. Live and learn.
