TurboTax Deluxe (Desktop) - Separation of Federal and State

I had a quick question about TurboTax Deluxe for Desktop. How does one separate the Federal and State returns? I'll have to e-file just my Federal return first. Then, I need to prepare an "As-If/Mock" Federal return and attach it to a joint Oregon return and mail both those in. Was unsure how the Deluxe software handled the order of these things, or if this is something that it makes clear near the end.

Also, does TurboTax still offer an option to buy that Audit Defense service for Deluxe Desktop users?

The desktop version allows you to create as many returns as you want. Save the return you have with a name you can understand, for example, Person A. Then save it again but change the name - for example, Mock Federal.

Now you have two matching copies. Go to File (top left) and open whichever return any time to work on it.

Continue and complete, then  file your Person A return.

Change up your Mock Federal to match your situation. You may be able to efile the state return. Please read the rules here.

When you go through the review section, you will be asked about Audit Defense.
