Turbotax is automatically reverting back to the full federal wages amount for part year NC source income even though I changed it on the state wages allocation page. I moved to NC mid 2023 and most of my income is due to work in another state (working remotely), so the total wages shouldn't be taxed in NC. But the software doesn't retain this wage allocation so in order to submit my taxes, I will be paying NC state taxes for wages not earned in NC. How do I get the correct wage allocation to stay?
I have the same issue. During 2024 I moved from Virginia to North Carolina. I correctly reported my wages, interest and dividends and capital gains earned while a resident; however on my North Carolina return the total interest and dividends and capital gains is shown as attributable to North Carolina. The part year allocation appears to be correctly stated on my Virginia return. why is Turbo tax not using my input to correctly attribute income on Column B of Form D-400 Sch PN?
I would like to take a deeper look at this. However, I need a diagnostic file which is a copy of your tax return that has all of your personal information removed. You can send one to us by following the directions below:
