Hello,
I had to amend my 2021 tax return. I did proceed as instructed by TurboTax.
I e-filed the federal, which was accepted and I printed and mailed the state (California) documents: Amended 540, Schedule X, CA (540) ;1040-X; 1040 and explanation of amendment i.e. all the documents that Turbo Tax made me print and instructed to mail.
I've just received a mail from the Franchise Tax Board (State of California) stating the following:
"Your Schedule X, California Explanation of Amended Return Changes, did not include a new amended California Form 540, California Resident Income Tax Return, as instructed.
You must mail us a new, completed, and signed amended California income tax return"
Well, I do not understand what that means since the documents I sent them did include the Amended 540 with date and signature.

Did you perhaps forget to sign the form? Just print another copy, sign it, and sent it to CA.
I did put the date and sign the form.
I went to the FTB website and downloaded the 540 form. What I notice is that the first page (Side 1) of the form does look different than the first page of what TurboTax did generate, could that be it?
If so, is there a solution (apart from filling up the 540 form manually)?
