Turbo Tax Incorrectly Thinks Virginia Was an Additional State of Residence in 2024

As a parent, I am completing 2024 taxes for our son and daughter.

Our daughter lived all year in Virginia and we have completed her tax return.  Needed to purchase a Virginia state in order to complete - makes sense.

Now I am completing our son's tax return and he lived in Florida (6 months) and Pennsylvania (6 months) for 2024.  We needed to purchase the state of Pennsylvania and there is no need to purchase Florida as they do not have an income tax - makes sense.

Here is the problem - When error checking taxes near the end of the process for our son who resided in FL and PA in 2024, Turbo Tax says I have multiple warnings that need to be resolved for the state of Virginia on Form 760PY.  He never lived in Virginia.

How to I resolve this Turbo Tax.  Is this a bug?  I ran through the state portion of tax calculations for our son again an everything looks good for FL and PA.  There is no mention of him living in VA.  It isn't until we get to the 'confirmation review' where Turbo Tax thinks he lived in VA as well.

Help..........

That is odd!  Does your son live in Virginia now, with a VA mailing address?  If so, that could be why TurboTax thinks you need Virginia.

Try closing the program, and reopening (install any updates, or check the Online link), then review again.  See if you can Continue past the error if you still get it.

Are you using TurboTax online?  If so, only one tax return can be completed per account and User ID.  To start another tax return using the online editions you will need to create a new account and a new User ID.
