TT says we have to upload documents to the CO Dept of Revenue (Form DR 1778) but it doesn't say which forms? How do I find out? Have to report sale of home nonresident.

Based on your comment, it is probably the other state tax return that they want. Go ahead and scan through this list and see if anything else looks familiar.

Form DR 1778 is used to attach the following items:

  • Other state(s) income tax return(s)
  • Enterprise Zone Credit: DR 1366 and any applicable certification forms from the Zone Administrator
  • Gross Conservation Easement: DR 1303, DR 1304 and/or DR 1305 and supplemental documentation.
  • Aircraft Manufacturer New Employee Credit: DR 0085 and/or DR 0086
  • Nonresident Partner, Shareholder or Members Agreement: DR 0107
  • Innovative Motor Vehicle Credit: Vehicle registration and the purchase invoice or bill of sale.
  • Child Care Contribution Credit: DR 1317
  • Claim for refund on behalf of deceased taxpayer: DR 0102, death certificate
  • Colorado Source Capital Gain Subtraction: DR 1316
  • Job Growth Incentive Tax Credit: Certification letter from the Colorado Economic Development Commission
  • Affordable Housing Credit: CHFA certification letter
  • Plastic Recycling Credit: Required documentation to substantiate credit (receipts, bills, etc)
  • School-to-Career Investment Credit: Certification letter.
  • Other documentation for credits/subtractions claimed (mark the Other box below and enter details).

I'm ready to file but have not received a prompt to upload my DR 1317 for the Child Care Contribution Tax Credit in Colorado.  When do I do this?

@studentmom  After checking with higher powers within the Turbo Tax organization, you will need to electronically file this form on the Colorado state Revenue website. Go to the section entitled File a Return or PTC Form.

I have a similar question. Looking at the list that @DaveF1006 provided, I am not seeing any items that apply to me, yet TurboTax gave me the same prompt to submit documentation (see screenshot below). The only thing that comes to mind is that I claimed a credit for installing an electric vehicle charger on my federal return, but that doesn't appear on @DaveF1006 's list. Does TurboTax tell you anywhere what forms / proof you need to manually upload?

It is probably for the Innovative Motor Credit on the CO state return.   If you are not claiming the Innovative Motor Credit, you can delete the form (it is titled Innovative Motor Credit).  Click on Forms up top, then scroll all the way down the forms list til you see Colorado, then delete the form.   Look through the CO forms you have in your return to ensure you did not claim any of those credits.      @skyfx

Looking through the list, it appears none of those apply to me. Is  this a standard verbiage for all Colorado returns or does it only prompt you if the situation applies. I cannot figure out what I need to provided as none of those items were claimed.

You should only be prompted if your situation applies; however, you can review any credits shown on your Colorado Form 104, Lines 13-17.

This form is filed separately at the CO Dept. of Revenue site.  Here's more info on Form DR-1778.

If you're using TurboTax Online, clear your Cache and Cookies and step through the CO interview again.
