TT Online asking for NJ-DOP UPDATE? Cryptocurrency need manual reviewing ?

Every year there seems to be more and more issues with TT.

 

This year i have two:

 

1. It keeps saying that for NJ-DOP I must obtain an update , how am i suppose to update anything when i use TT online ? I put 0 in my cost, since i had a loss, and it doesn't accept. 

 

2. It is also asking me to review every single crypto transaction 900 of them- really ? 

 

What is going on ?

Thank you for sharing this information. Our team is working to resolve an error message in the New Jersey state tax Form NJ-DOP during Review and expects to have this updated by March 3rd. Please try your return in Review on or after March 4th. If you have the desktop version of TurboTax, please be sure it updates when you launch the program.  If you have TurboTax Online and it still gives this error message, please sign out of TurboTax, clear your cache and cookies, or try another browser, then sign back in and take it through Review.  Please see this Help article for clearing your cache and cookies. If the federal forms are all finalized and it is ready to e-file, you can choose to file just the federal return at this time, then come back when your state forms are ready and e-file that return.

 

  1. When you get to the Here are your filing options screen
  2. Select Change next to your state return
  3. On the Change filing method screen
  4. Select I'm not ready to file
  5. Click Save 

Note, if you don't e-file them together, you do have to wait until the federal is accepted before you can e-file the state. Sometimes this takes a day or even two.

File State after the Federal is Filed

If this is in TurboTax Desktop software, for the message prompting you to manually check whether your short and long transaction were reported to the IRS, please open Form 8949 in Forms mode and in Part 1, check box C. That should select it for of all the transactions. To enter Forms mode:

 

  • Please go to the upper right-hand corner and click on Forms; it will show you a list of all the forms in the return along the left column.
  • Check for Form 8949, click on it, and it will open in the pane on the right. You can see what information is in the form and you can click the box in Part 1.
    When you are finished, click on Step-by-Step button on the upper right and it will return you to Interview mode.
