The W-2 for the state wages earned in box 15 is "MD" . The hospital we worked for was located in Virginia, Do we have to file VA taxes? We are MD residents.

I am being prompted to file for VA state taxes , yet in the W-2, no taxes were paid to VA, only MD.

No, Maryland and Virginia have a reciprocal agreement. That means you can report Virginia wages on your Maryland tax return the same way you would as if you had earned the wages in your home state. Unless you lived in Virginia for a part of the year, you have no filing obligation based on the facts you shared. Ignore the prompts to file in Virginia.
