Editor's note: the standard deduction for a single person for tax year 2019 is now $6,150.
The Standard Deduction in Vermont is $7,000 for those filing Single and who are either blind or born before January 2, 1954.
The State says,
"Vermont Standard Deduction. Enter the amount of standard deduction from the chart below. You also receive an additional deduction of $1,000 for each standard deduction box checked on the federal Form 1040. If you or your spouse was born before Jan. 2, 1954, or you were blind, using the number of standard deduction boxes checked on your federal Form 1040, select the corresponding number to the filing status and enter on Line 4".
