The program is asking me to check this entry for my CA return: Nonresident Annualized Tax & Credit Wks: Line 4 must be entered. What should I do?

There are several line 4's in this form: In Part I it is California AGI. Enter amountfrom Schedule CA (540NR),Part IV Line 1 that is applicable for the period and in Part II it is Add line 2 and line 3. Enterhere and on FTB 5805,Part III, line 13 Neither of those lines have an open text box.

If you are electing to use the annualized calculation method for California Form 5805, then it may be asking for Line 4 of Part III, Annualized Income Installment Method Schedule. This is where you would enter your itemized deductions for each of the four columns:

 

4 Enter your itemized deductions for the period shown in each column. If you do not itemize deductions, enter -0-here and on line 6. Estates or Trusts, enter -0- here, skip to line 9, and enter the amount from line 3 on line 9.
