State Tax when moving from one state to another

I work/live in 2 different state in 2017, Ohio till May with salary X and Washington after May with salary Y. Do I need to pay state tax on Salary X or Salary X+Y, since Washington has no state tax. My understanding is I have to do part State tax filing with paying Ohio state tax on Salary X

Yes you are correct. You will file a part year return for OH only (since WA has no state income taxes). You will only report your OH sourced income (Salary X) on your OH part-year tax income tax return.
