state tax filing issue

My wife and I are Pennsylvania (PA) residents and have income from PA only, so we file a joint tax return only in PA and no other states. My son is a Pennsylvania resident who works in Delaware, so he files a PA resident return and a Delaware (DE) non-resident return.  I bought the DE software for my son's returns and prepared his PA and DE state returns with no issue.  However, after telling TurboTax Premier Desktop 2023 that my wife and I have no income in any state other than PA, the software is trying to force us to file in DE as well.  I reported this issue on the telephone support line and was promised that I would be contacted within 48 hours, which of course I wasn't.  Two TurboTax updates have been issued since I reported the issue without a correction being made.  I have two questions. (1) Has anyone encountered a similar issue with multiple state filings, either with PA and DE or any other states? (2) Does anyone from Intuit read these posts and get bugs corrected?

(1) Has anyone encountered a similar issue with multiple state filings, either with PA and DE or any other states?  When you went to do a new return, did you select NEW return or did you by chance use the same return, but deleted information and used the same return?  Not the program, but the return?  If not, his information may be hanging up in there still.

If you are in a new return, how is it trying to force you to file DE?  You should be able to just go to State Returns and select only PA to edit or start.  Simply do not enter anything in the DE return and then when you continue through, only file PA.  You can select DE to paper file and just not mail it.  As long as there is no information on the return, it is not going to have any affect on anything.

You can also go to forms mode and then select the tax form for DE and click Delete Form.  This will get rid of anything that may be there as well.

 (2) Does anyone from Intuit read these posts and get bugs corrected?  Yes.  I am an Intuit Employee.  We do read these posts and when we can verify an issue we do submit them to be looked at and fixed if it is an actual error. Many times it is something silly hanging up in the users cache and cookies or memory that causes people to have issues that may seem like a bug.

Vanessa, you don't understand that this is a bug in the software. I created a new return and told the software that there is no income from any other state than PA. TurboTax created a Delaware return without my accessing the DE software, and the DE return cannot be deleted.  Let me say that again.  The bogus return cannot be deleted. The bug is apparently that the software will create a DE return for every new set of returns created, even if it is not required.  Are you an Intuit employee?  You could help me by reporting the issue to the appropriate department and getting it corrected.  Maybe I could try to e-file the federal and PA returns without filing the bogus DE return, but what if there is another bug in the software and TurboTax files the bogus return? Then what?
