State residency/non residency questions

Hello;

I am having some problems on how to answer some questions in regards to residency for my state return

I was a CA resident since 2009 and moved out of the state Jan 15/21, I had a home that was sold Jan5/21. I am confused on how to answer residency vs non residency:

Residency information during 2021

- Did you become a CA resident during 2021? I answer NO

- Did you become a CA non resident during 2021?  I answer YES (I was there for 15 days and paid state taxes}

- Were you a CA non-resident during all of 2021? I answer NO {I am a NJ resident now}

Then in 2021 Residency information I answer

Number of days you spent in CA: I answer 15 days

Did you own a home or property in CA? I answer YES {it was sold on Jan 5}.

Hoping for some clarification!

Thank you

What's your question? It looks like you're doing fine!

Please review the definition of a California resident (which you are not at all, see CA Resident), and see the definition of a part-year resident and nonresident at CA Part-Year and Nonresident. You are clearly a part-year resident, which TurboTax will surely figure out from your answers.
