Should I mailed 8949 form due to amending CA state tax

I amend my CA tax after filing.

Turbotax instruction needs me to mail in the amended version.

Turbotax generated a lot pages (up to 60pages) of form 8949, because we did many stock transactions last year.

Do I really need to mail all those 8949 pages to CA amending?

It makes the document add up to nearly 100 pages

No, you don't, but you might include a statement with your amended state return that you didn't file an amended federal return.

Maybe.

According to the 2020 Instructions for Schedule X, California Explanation of Amended Return Changes, you need to attach

  • Federal schedules if you made a change to your federal tax return.
  • Documents supporting each change, such as corrected federal Form(s) W-2 or 1099, Schedule(s) K-1, escrow statements, court documents, contracts, etc.

Turbo tax instruction asks to include "a copy of your federal return" in the mail.

Actually, I only change the allocation of CA source income as non-resident of CA.

I did not change anything in federal return.

Then do I need to include form 1040-X, form 1040 and all other federal forms?
