Received a letter from NY asking me to fill out IT-558. The reasons for NYS adjustments aren't applicable to me. Can't get through to NY Gov for help. What is this form?

I live in NJ, but work in NYS. None of the reasons for New York State adjustments due to decoupling for this form make sense to me. I am not a partner in any sort of business partnership. I am not a shareholder of one or more federal S corporations. I am beneficiary to my parent's will, but they're alive so this wouldn't be applicable. I just can't figure out what to do with this form, or where there would be an issue within the tax forms I submitted via Turbotax.

Here's an article that discusses some reasons why New York Form IT-558 may be required.

If you don't believe this applies to you, send in a Form IT-558 with $0's if you can't determine the reason NY is requesting it from you. If TurboTax believed you needed one, it should have been prepared for you.
