Hi,
I live in Philadelphia and work in Malvern, PA. In my W2, box 20, the locality name is written 150402 and not Philadelphia. In box19, local income tax is withheld from my salary. Does that mean that the amount of the tax withheld is for Malvern?? Do I need to pay extra amount for Philadelphia City tax too?
I would be really thankful if you can help me with this question.
Thanks
Yes. It appears you have Malvern earned income tax (EIT) withheld from your pay. 15402 is the school district code for Great Valley.
East Whiteland Twp. assesses a 0.5% tax on all persons living and working within the township. However, Philadelphia city residents also pay taxes to the City.
Employers will generally withhold Philly wage tax. If your employer does not, go to Payments, assistance & taxes to create a tax account and make quarterly payments.
You will have to file an EIT return with Keystone Collections Group and an annual wage reconciliation form with the City of Philadelphia. Philly will give you credit for tax paid to East Whiteland.
