On the W-2 Wage and Tax Statement form how do I know of the amount entered was paid to me or was deducted?

I have received pension benefits for many years.

If you receive a pension that is reported to you on a Form 1099-R, not on a W-2.  If you entered the 1099-R in the W-2 section, delete the W-2 that you entered.

 

To enter, edit or delete a form 1099-R -

Click on Federal Taxes (Personal using Home and Business)
Click on Wages and Income (Personal Income using Home and Business)
Click on I'll choose what I work on (if shown)
Scroll down to Retirement Plans and Social Security
On IRA, 401(k), Pension Plan Withdrawals (1099-R), click the start or update button
