Oklahoma accepted my return, but sent letter saying "Failure to provide requested information...may result in return not being processed." I have to submit documents to OKLAHOMA TAXPAYER ACCESS POINT or they won't process my tax return. I guess when TurboTax says "You're officially finished filing your 2021 Oklahoma Personal taxes" that is not quite true because the state may "accept" your return via TurboTax, then send you a letter stating you have to sent more documents such as 1099 or your entire federal tax return through their "OkTAP" web site. Anyone have any comments or similar experiences?
The federal government and states have tried to streamline electronic filing to eliminate any paper, but sometimes supplemental information is not able to be filed electronically, or cannot be, due to legal requirements.
The alternative would be to send your entire return by mail, in which case, your processing time is much longer.
Depending on what documents are asked for, you many avoid having to send those in the future by eliminating whatever activities created the need to send those documents.
