Form IT-112-R(MA) is used to claim a resident credit for taxes paid to another state. On your return it is for MA.

This credit is allowable only for the portion of the tax that applies to income sourced to and taxed by the other taxing authority/state while you were a New York State resident.

Instructions for Form IT-112-R

To revisit that section on NY return:

  1. Open your NY return.
  2. Continue to the screen Take a look at New York credits and taxes
  3. Scroll down to Take a look at New York credits and taxes and click Revisit next to Taxes Paid to Another State
  4. On the screen Other State Tax Credit Summary Select Edit next To MA
  5. Verify the amounts on “Income Taxed By MA.” These should be correct. If not, enter the correct number in Amount if Different
  6. On “Tax Computed on Your MA Return, enter your MA tax liability in Amount if Different. TurboTax should display the correct amount to enter on that screen.
  7. If you don't see the amounts, follow the steps below to see your MA return summary:
  8. Click Tax Tools in the left column
  9. Then Tools
  10. Select View Tax Summary in "Tools Center"
  11. Select MA Tax Summary in the left column and find your Total Tax.
  12. Tap Back in the left column to return to the interview mode
