Nonresident Property Estimated income Tax IT-2663-V for 2022 How do I file in Federal and NY NON-Resident?

I paid Nonresident Property Estimated income Tax IT-2663-V for 2022 How do I file in Federal 2022 and do I also need to file in NY as a non-Resident?

I entered the estimated tax under

  • Deductions and credits
  • Estimated and other Taxes Paid
  • Estimates

The form wanted me to enter per quaryer, but I simply entered the state, date and amount.

After I completed the Federal, TurboTax only recommended that I file resident (WI).

Is what I did correct?  Why is it not recommending NY State?

It depends.

The information may not have been entered completely in TurboTax.  You will need to report the sale of the property on your federal income tax return for 2022 first.  Then you will need to prepare a nonresident New York state return and allocate the sale of the property as being allocated to New York in the state interview section.

Be sure to report the withholdings from Form IT-2663-V on your individual tax return for New York to ensure you receive credit for state tax withholding.

  1. You will make this entry in the Federal interview section of the program under Deductions & Credits.
  2. Scroll down to the section titled Income Taxes Paid.
  3. Select Other Income Taxes Paid in 2023.
  4. Select Withholding not already entered on a W-2 or 1099 and select start.
  5. On the screen titled "Tell us about any tax withholding that you haven't entered yet", under the section titled State withholdings, select New York as the state.  Enter the amount listed on line 20 of Form IT-2663 in the amount field on this screen.
