NJ resident but working in NY.

My wife moved to NJ in November 2023 and started working in NY from Dec 2024. I have received her W2 which shows same wages for NJ & NY.

When filing NJ tax returns through Turbotax, I am given a choice to choose which is duplicate entry. I have select either NY or NJ to be removed. As she only stayed in NJ but employer is in NY, should I choose NJ or NY?

If I choose NJ, then I need to pay NJ state taxes which would be double taxation (NY + NJ).

Kindly clarify, which option to choose.

always do the non-resident state return first, then resident.

Based on what you say,

your wife is a part-year resident of both states.

where do you reside in 2023?
