Need to change state return after paid turbo tax

Turbo Tax online does not allow you to print and check your return without paying for it.  So I checked the fed and state returns as best I could.  I paid TurboTax fees (including the state fee).  So of course,  I found an error in my federal that impacts my state return.   ( i have not yet returned  Of course, any changes I make to the federal will not pull down into my state return.  I had a smillar issue last year.  A complete nightmare.  At this point I don't even care about the money but turbo tax will not allow me to delete state return.  What are my options?  If I go online and download the software will that allow me to reinput the info from scratch?  Total sucks.  Definitely would not recommend online turbo tax to anyone.

When you get to the Here are your filing options screen, select Change next to your state return. On the the Change filing method screen, select I'm not ready to file and Save.

Yep. Sorry. That didn’t work. Already had to download the software so I paid for this twice. Intuit should reimburse me. Awful.

I would recommend talking to an agent about getting a refund.  You should be able to do this through the chat in TurboTax Online unless you want to set up a call back..

If you have the software already load on your PC, download your TurboTax .tax file from TurboTax Online through the Tax Tools menu.  While in your return in TurboTax Online:

  • In the left hand column select "Tax Tools"
  • Select "Tools"
  • Select "Save your 2020 return to your computer"
  • A pop up will ask you to save your .tax2020 file.
  • In TurboTax Desktop, open the file you just downloaded (Probably in download folder) (Use link Find a Tax File)
  • Enter Forms mode by clicking on "Forms" in upper right hand column
  • Now click "File" in the tope menu bar then "Remove State Return"

Now you can go back to Step by Step in the upper right hand corner and add the state return back in.  You also may want to try making your changes to the state in "Forms" mode before deleting.
