my w2 wages don't match

I received my W2, but it did not make sense to me. I lived in Pennsylvania while working in New Jersey. Then, I moved to New Jersey while working for the same company.  W2 is as follows:

box 1 56,615.43

box 16 NJ $58,301.43

box 16 PA $44,174.24

Can someone tell me if this makes sense?

Yes, it does. Your federal wages are box 1. NJ taxes the money you save toward retirement, so NJ box 16 is higher than box 1.

The PA amount is what you earned while living there.

Hi, thank you for answering. So you are stating that I made $44,174 out of the $56,615 while living in Pennslyvania, and the remaining amount is what I made while living in New Jersey? Is this correct?

Yes to the PA. Subtract PA from NJ and you have the correct NJ income.
