@PatriciaR- thanks!
My Mom has a pension from Corning, she paid 227.00 MI state. Received a letter stating she owes another $325.00 due to form 4884 not being filled out. (N) was selected and everything calculated correctly. Not understanding why TurboTax is wrong? Please help!
Michigan Pension deductions are done a a tier basis, if filer and spouse were born after 1945 and before Dec 31 1952 form 4884 is not completed. Tier 2 gets a standard deduction against all income, $20,000 or $40,000 depending on filing status, Born after 1952 is Tier 3 and basically all is taxable.
