My employer incorrectly withheld county taxes for the county in which the business is based, but I live and work out of state. Can I collect the pay withheld in error?

State taxes were correctly withheld for my state of residence and work (the same state), but the county taxes alone are for the location of the business. When completing my tax forms online it shows I do not owe any county tax, of which I am aware, but it is not showing those taxes will be refunded to me as they were paid in error.

Almost no county or municipality automatically refunds a property tax overpayment. Most counties and municipalities also require any property tax refund applications to be mailed or brought in, though most can be downloaded and printed out, at least.  You would have to check with your local municipality that  the taxes were withheld for as to how to get these back.
