My CA 540NR is showing an incorrect date for part 1 line 4, the date I became a CA non-resident. Info is correct in the "My Info" section. Where can I fix this?

All of my info seems correct everywhere else, but on this line on this form it is listed as a wrong date. How can I fix this?

Try deleting the state of California from your state tax returns and then add the state back.Verify your information is correct in MY INFO before you add California back in. if you have further problems, reach out to phone support as they have the ability to view your return with you to pinpoint specific issues.

Thank you for the reply! I don't see an option to delete the CA state tax return -- only Edit and Start Over. Going through Start Over does not fix the problem. How do I delete the tax return?

  1. Sign in and open your return if you don't already have it open.
  2. From the left menu, select State (if you don't see this menu, select the menu icon in the upper-left) and then select Continue on the Let's get your state taxes done right screen.
  3. On the Status of your state returns screen select Delete to the right of your state, then answer Yes.

Here is a Help Article that will provide you with some more details regarding deleting your state return:  Deleting my State Return.

Hi Karen,

I don't appear to have that option. I believe it may be that since I already payed for TurboTax this year that it won't allow me to delete it.

Are you able to edit or continue your CA return?  If so, just get to the summary page and edit the general information section (residency) and  you will get to the question about when you were a CA non-resident.

Thank you for your answer, but unfortunately that's the problem. Even when I edit it in the General Information section, the change is not reflected when I print.

I have downloaded the CA state, and I do not use the online version of CA.   I have this same problem.    I have corrected the date on the Personal information part of Turbo tax, but it doesn't change the CA dowloaded forms.

if you are using the software version, try going into the California form Sch CA (540) itself to edit the information.in lines 3 or 4.

I have the same issue.  What is the resolution to correct line 4 after the fees were paid?  Are there calculations on the form that is based on the date you became a CA nonresident?  I also paid the fees and found this mistake on the printed version.

Has anyone found a fix for this?
