Moving to from Illinois to Minnesota

After graduating college, I moved from Illinois to Minnesota for a new job in September. I only have earned income in Minnesota and a 1099- INT for interest income. Do i have to file in Illinois or report the interest income to Illinois?

If you earned the interest income while you were an Illinois resident, you would be required to file a Part Year Illinois income tax return.  (Basically if you received it before September, it would be Illinois income.)  Even if it is a very small amount, it may be a good idea to file the Part-Year return to show that you changed your residency in September.

Illinois requires part-year residents to file an Illinois tax return if they had "income from any source" while a resident of Illinois.
